Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy explains how Urbanmorph Consultants Pvt Ltd (“Altmo”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on our website and web application at altmo.app (the “Service”). It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

By using the Service, you acknowledge that we use the categories of cookies described below. You can manage your preferences for optional cookies at any time using the controls on our cookie banner or the cookie preferences page.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your browser or device when you visit. They are widely used to make websites work, to work more efficiently, and to provide information to the site operator. Cookies can be “session cookies” (which expire when you close your browser) or “persistent cookies” (which remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them).

We also use similar storage technologies such as local storage (used by third-party analytics scripts). Where this policy refers to “cookies” it includes these technologies unless stated otherwise.

Cookies we use

1. Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are essential for the Service to function. They cannot be switched off in our systems and do not require your consent. Without these cookies, services you have asked for — such as signing in or accessing a secure page — cannot be provided.

Cookie name Provider Purpose Duration
_altmo_session Altmo Maintains your authenticated session (login state) across page requests. Set by the Rails framework and used by Devise, our authentication library. Contains only an encrypted session identifier — no personal data is stored in the cookie itself. Session (expires when browser is closed)
_csrf_token Altmo Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) protection. Rails embeds this token in forms and verifies it on each state-changing request to prevent unauthorised actions on your behalf. Session
cookie_consent Altmo Records your cookie preference choice (accepted or declined analytics) so the consent banner is not shown again and your preference is honoured across sessions and sign-outs. 6 months

2. Analytics cookies

Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors interact with the Service. All data collected is aggregated and used solely to improve the quality and performance of our product. These cookies are optional — we ask for your consent before setting them, and you can withdraw consent at any time.

Cookie name Provider Purpose Duration
ph_*_posthog PostHog (self-hosted by Altmo at pha.altmo.app) Records product usage events (page views, feature interactions) to help us understand how the Service is used and where to focus improvements. Data is processed on infrastructure controlled by Altmo and is not shared with PostHog Inc. or any other third party. Profiles are only created for authenticated users. Up to 1 year
_ga Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC) Distinguishes unique users and sessions. Used to generate aggregate statistics about how visitors reach and use the Service (traffic sources, page views, session duration). 2 years
_ga_<container-id> Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC) Maintains session state for a specific GA4 measurement ID (G-99KQGF5SK3). Works alongside _ga to record session and engagement metrics. 2 years

Google Analytics 4 data is processed by Google LLC in accordance with Google’s Privacy Policy. We do not use Google Analytics audiences or advertising features, and we do not share data with Google for advertising purposes.

Our mobile applications do not use any analytics SDKs or advertising trackers. All mobile analytics, if any, are handled server-side through the same self-hosted PostHog instance described above.

Your consent choices

When you first visit altmo.app, we display a cookie banner that allows you to accept all cookies or manage your preferences. Your choice is stored for the duration of your browser session.

You can review or change your analytics preference at any time by visiting our cookie preferences page. Declining analytics cookies will:

  • Opt you out of PostHog event capture (both client-side and server-side) immediately.
  • Suppress Google Analytics script loading on subsequent page loads.

Strictly necessary and functional cookies cannot be declined as they are required to provide the core Service.

Managing cookies in your browser

In addition to using our consent controls, most browsers allow you to refuse or delete cookies through their settings. Please note that blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from signing in or using core features of the Service. Common browser guidance:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies

You can also opt out of Google Analytics across all websites using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the technologies we use or applicable regulations. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
